Faces of four women

Helping Women Take Control of Their Lives and Move Out of Homelessness

Volunteer

New Endeavors by Women (NEW) can use volunteers for a variety of tasks. At any given time, a number of women are taking literacy classes or GED preparation classes. A tutor who could work with a resident would help the woman’s progress. In the past, NEW has had a successful book club and currently is looking for an individual to lead a book discussion group. Two very different areas where NEW could use some volunteers are in providing computer training and parenting skills. New Endeavors
also would like to offer educational or recreational outings to the women. Someone who could organize and coordinate these events would be a welcome volunteer.

NEW is looking for corporate offices that would be willing to provide internships for residents. And, NEW is looking for working women that could act as mentors for these interns or other residents returning to the workforce. New Endeavors could use volunteers to support and expand fundraising efforts.

During the fall, NEW participates in the Combined Federal Campaign and United Way fairs and the Help the Homeless (HTH) Walkathon and holds its annual fundraiser at The Westin Grand.
Individuals who would be willing to attend fairs, act as a liaison with schools, participate in HTH mini-walks and recruit walkers for the HTH Walk would be valued.

In giving a list of volunteer possibilities, one runs the risk of people limiting their sights to those mentioned. Whatever the talent, it will be gladly received at New Endeavors.
